Description of actual services provided:

The objective of the project was to facilitate the establishment of a public-private partnership (PPP) and structure the transaction for implementation of renewable energy projects in Bulgaria. Three specific initiatives were completed by Encon: 

·       Assessment of the renewable resources, including wind, solar and landfill gas

  • Establishment of the environment to structure Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project development with municipal governments, and
  • Public awareness and capacity building with institutions 

Assessment of the Renewable Resources:

  • Landfill gas resource assessment in three municipalities - Yambol, Ruse, and Sliven - to assess the potential to develop landfill gas recovery and utilization projects. The project in Sliven has been developed to the point of sale to a private investor
  • Solar resource assessment at two locations within the Hadjidimovo municipality - Sadovo and Ablanitsa 
  • Wind resource assessment in three locations in Bulgaria: Dve Mogily municipality, Slivo Pole municipality, and Aksakovo municipality. The Aksakovo project has been developed to the point of sale to a private investor to complete the Public-Private Partnership
