Client: European Investment Bank (EIB)

Dates: 2013 - 2015

Country of assignment: Bulgaria

Description of actual services provided:

In 2007, the European Investment Bank established an Energy Facility, dedicated to financing small and medium-sized energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in Bulgaria. The Energy Facility is combined with grant financing from the Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support Fund. Each project required a Project Plan that described the objectives of the project, confirms its eligibility, and in general justifies the use of funding from the KIDSF. After the implementation of each project, its results are validated against the Project Plan.

Encon successfully cooperates with EIB and Raiffeisenbank on the following activities:

  • Developing project pipeline (screening Raiffeisen’s existing client portfolio with energy efficiency or renewable energy project needs)
  • Performing marketing activities
  • Addressing the Bank’s and sub-project promoters’ queries
  • Providing advice about the Facility to the Bank to the sub-project’s promoters
  • Carrying Out Energy Audits
  • Preparing Project Plans
  • Providing Project Validations

The financed projects included hydropower, industrial energy efficiency, and building energy efficiency projects.
